Before we get into the usual things, we wanted to highlight some more of the Black Friday sales with various streaming services - this time, sales you get by going direct. As with all limited-time deals, keep in mind that we don't control them and they could change at any time.
We've pasted all the Amazon channel deals at the very bottom of this email, just in case you wanted to refer back to those.
What we're...
- Watching: Martin Compston's Scottish Fling - No matter how many times I visit or how many travel shows I watch, I never get bored of Scottish scenery. In this series, Martin Compston (Monarch of the Glen, Line of Duty) takes us around his homeland in six episodes.
- Reading: The Night in Question by Susan Fletcher - If you enjoy books with older protagonists, this one is particularly charming. It's one part cosy mystery, one part women's/relationship fiction - following 87-year-old Florrie Butterfield, a woman who's cheerful but haunted by a bloody secret, as she investigates a suspicious accident at her residence. Along the way, she learns about herself, potential murder, and the unexpected possibilities of love and new beginnings.

British Hidden Gems...
Whether you're spending the holiday weekend alone or you just find yourself in need of some quiet TV time after all the people-ing, Thanksgiving weekend is a great time to curl up with leftovers and a good show. Here are a few you might have missed...
- Two Weeks to Live (2020) - This dark comedy follows Kim, a young misfit whose mother dragged her off to the country for a survivalist lifestyle after her father died. The series picks up as she sets off on her own, but things go pear-shaped when an awkward young man’s prank puts all their lives in danger. Believing the end times are near, she sets out to kill the man who murdered her father.
- Our House (2023) - Based on Louise Candlish's best-selling psychological thriller, this miniseries follows Fi Lawson (Tuppence Middleton, Dickensian), a woman who comes home one day to find strangers moving themselves into her house. At the same time, she discovers her husband, Bram (Martin Compston, Line of Duty), has gone missing. Though that seems about as bad as things can get, it's only the beginning of the terror that will unfold.
- The End of the F***ing World (2017) - A teen psychopath and a rebellious girl hit the road in this darkly comic series. Fleeing suburbia, they journey through bleak towns and scenic landscapes on a quest to find Alyssa’s estranged father and a chance at a better life.
- Dinner With the Parents (2024) - Ever wonder what an American adaptation of British comedy classic Friday Night Dinner would look like? Well, Dinner With the Parents is that show. I didn't think it was as good as the original, but it was hard to look away - I just wanted to see how different things were "translated" for the more typical US viewer (the ones who don't watch a million British TV shows like all of us).
- The Job Lot (2013) - If you enjoyed shows like Miranda and Trollied, this is an often-overlooked series set in a West Midlands-based job centre. Sarah Hadland and Russell Tovey star.
- Micawber (2022) - David Jason (Only Fools & Horses) stars in this heartwarming period comedy as Micawber, an eternal optimist navigating life’s ups and downs in Victorian England. With boundless charm and inventive schemes, he dreams of prosperity for his family while stumbling into endless misadventures.
DCI Tom Barnaby: Smothered by a meat pudding, flattened by the roller and bashed about the head. Not necessarily in that order.
Sergeant Gavin Troy: Think it could be accidental, sir?
DCI Tom Barnaby, Midsomer Murders
Stream it (US): Acorn TV, Tubi, Pluto, Prime Video, Plex, Freevee, Roku Channel, Hoopla

The opportunity to lock in these prices for 2 months ends on December 2nd. Last time they did a sale, a few people mentioned it would be handy if we sent out a reminder about 55 days later so people who intended to cancel could be reminded - so we've pre-scheduled an email for January 15th to help everyone remember, just in case some people are on tight budgets and can't afford to forget to cancel before the price goes up.
