Shows Renewed or Unknown

After the Flood - Though we haven't seen an official announcement, this one has popped up on casting sites with a season 2 filming date of February 2025.

Agatha Raisin - Neither confirmed nor cancelled, but with such a long delay, it doesn't look great.

All Creatures Great & Small - Received a double renewal for seasons 5 and 6 + Christmas specials. Season 5 arrives in the UK on 19 September 2024, and it will premiere in the US on January 12th, 2025.

Annika - No word yet on season 3. Having withdrawals? The radio version has 6 seasons.

The Bay - No word yet on season 6. Season 5 premiered on BritBox in the US, but the UK is still waiting.

Beyond Paradise - Season 3 filming has begun - too soon for a premiere date.

Brassic - Season 6 began in the UK in September 2024, and season 7 has been confirmed with pre-production beginning in autumn 2024 . Only seasons 1-5 are available in the US.

Bridgerton - Season 4 began filming in September 2024.

Call the Midwife - Season 14 is currently filming. It has been renewed through at least season 15.

CB Strike - Filming of The Ink Black Heart has wrapped, expect UK air date late 2024/early 2025 and US soon after. No confirmation on filming of The Running Grave. JK Rowling is working on the next novel, The Hallmarked Man.

Cobra - No word yet on season 4 despite the season 3 cliffhanger.

Criminal Record - Renewed for season 2 at Apple TV+. Too soon for dates.

Dalgliesh - Season 3 filmed summer 2024, adapts three novels: Death in Holy Orders, Cover Her Face, and Devices & Desires. No premiere date yet.

Darby & Joan (AU) - Acorn TV announced earlier this year that they were back in production for season 2 - no air date yet.

DI Ray - No word yet on season 3.

Doctor Who - Season 15 is definitely happening (exact date unknown), and Russell T Davies has stated he's working on another season of new episodes for a third Ncuti Gatwa-led season because he's confident it will happen. Gatwa posted about season 16 filming beginning in 2025, but the BBC's official spokesperson indicated Gatwa had spoken out of turn, and that no official decision would be made until after the new season airs.

Everyone Else Burns - Season 2 began filming earlier this year, no release date yet.

Father Brown - In April 2024, it was confirmed that seasons 12 and 13 had been commissioned. No word on when they will premiere, but based on past patterns, we would expect to see season 12 in January 2025 and season 13 in January 2026.

Gavin & Stacey - Those involved have said the upcoming Christmas special will be the final installment in the series.

Good Omens - Though a season 3 pre-production was paused in the aftermath of the numerous accusations against author Neil Gaiman, a number of sources have reported that he offered to step back so it can continue. As of late October 2024, the future remains uncertain. Some casting sites have updated the status for the production as "active" with a shooting date of January 2025, but we won't take that too seriously until we see on-set photos or an official announcement from Amazon or a major cast member.

Good Ship Murder - Channel 5 in the UK has announced there will be a season 2 AND 3, along with a Christmas special. No word on dates as of September 2024.

Karen Pirie - Season 2 began filming in early 2024, no word on premiere date.

Lucy Worsley Investigates (2022) - A second season was announced in July 2024, and Lucy was in France investigating the Bayeux Tapestry and Norman Conquest at the time. No dates yet, but the post suggests they were filming at the time.

Madame Blanc Mysteries - The show was officially renewed for a 4th season and Christmas special, and production is already underway. No official dates, but of course we would expect to see the Christmas special around Christmas.

Magpie Murders & Moonflower Murders - Though there's been no word on a third season, Anthony Horowitz recently announced a third (and likely, final) book in the series, Marble Hall Murders, to be released in the US on May 13th, 2025 - so there will be source material to work with if it's renewed. The second season, Moonflower Murders, premiered on PBS on September 15th.

Mallorca Files - Season 3 now on Amazon, Elen Rhys has teased the possible return of a guest star in season 4 - but no official word yet.

Manhunt - Colin Sutton (the real-life inspiration) and writer Ed Whitmore have both expressed interest in a season 3, but no word yet.

Marlow Murder Club - Season 1 premieres PBS on October 27th, but it's already been renewed for season 2. The third book in the series, The Queen of Poisons, came out this summer in the US.

The Outlaws - No season 4 renewal, and while it was all tied up neatly at the end of season 3, creator and star Stephen Merchant has said, "Never say never."

Peaky Blinders - While the series is over, a feature film spinoff began filming in September 2024. No release date yet.

Professor T - Renewed for season 4 back in Feb 2024, Ben Miller confirmed he was headed to Belgium for filming in April 2024.

Recipes for Love & Murder - Season 2 filmed in 2024, no word on premiere date yet.

Red Eye - Season 2 begins filming in February 2025.

Rivals - Cast member Danny Dyer joked, "We might be busy on the second series of Rivals..." in an interview with Radio Times, but there's no official announcement yet. So far, it's getting great reception.

Slow Horses - Renewed for season 5, expected in 2025.

Suspect - A second season began in July 2024, premiering in the US on BritBox on October 3rd. No word yet on a third season as of September 2024, but with plenty of open threads at the end of season 2, it seems likely the writers were hoping for another.

Time - Season 2 premiered earlier this year on BritBox, no word on season 3.

The Tower - Season 3 airs in the US on September 26th (BritBox). No official decision on S4 year, but the writer says he's already working on it.

Trigger Point - Season 3 has been confirmed, with filming to begin in January 2025.

Van der Valk - Season 4 premiered on PBS on September 15th. Despite what Google's terrible AI overviews have been telling many people who search, there's been no official word on a fifth season (yet). It seems it may be getting confused because the older adaptation had a season 5 back in 1992.

Vera - Season 14 filmed in summer 2024. Two 120-minute episodes will bring Brenda Blethyn's time as Vera to a close. At 78, she has certainly earned her retirement - but there have been unconfirmed rumours of a possible spinoff or continuation without her. An 11th Vera novel, The Dark Wives, was just published this autumn.

If you're not a fan of e-readers, you may want to skip this first section. In case you missed the news, Amazon made some big e-reader announcements this week. Four new Kindles were announced, but the biggest news is that one of them has a colour screen that's easy on the eyes (not like the Kindle Fire tablets or Kindle app). Personally, I prefer the Kindle Scribe because the screen is HUGE and you can use the little pen to take notes in it - but the idea of a regular Kindle with colour is...

Though American audiences will have to wait a bit longer, UK audiences have been enjoying a promising new period drama on Channel 5, The Hardacres. Set in 1890s Yorkshire, this six-part series follows the rags-to-riches journey of the Hardacre family, led by Claire Cooper (The Continental) and Liam McMahon (The O'Briens) as Mary and Sam Hardacre. Alongside them is Julie Graham (Ridley) as the formidable Ma.Expect family drama, hardship, and a spectacular rise from the grimy docks to a...

Scottish novelist Jenny Colgan is best known for heartwarming books that appeal primarily to women (though she's also been known to do a bit of sci-fi). With titles like The Cafe by the Sea, Little Beach Street Bakery, and The Bookshop on the Corner, her best-known books seem designed with one aim - to give the reader a warm, cosy space to spend a bit of time. They're not to everyone's taste, but there's no denying she's brightened up many a day. That's why we were so delighted for her when...
