BritBox Announces September US Premieres + Beyond Paradise News

We've been getting questions for months, but at long last, we have an answer for those of you who've been waiting for the rest of season 3 of Beyond Paradise. BritBox has confirmed that the series will return on October 14th, with 6 hour-long episodes to be released over 6 weeks.

Season 3 follows DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) and Martha (Sally Bretton) as they balance foster parenting with new challenges—including the return of Martha’s old flame Archie (Jamie Bamber). The Shipton Abbott team tackles fresh mysteries from a riverbank body to a chocolate box poisoning, while Esther (Zahra Ahmadi), Anne (Barbara Flynn), and Kelby (Dylan Llewellyn) each face turning points in their personal lives.

What we're...

  • Watching: Makari: Sicilian Mysteries - Towards the end of summer, I always find myself running low on British TV shows (streaming services tend to offer fewer selections in the warmer months), so I've turned back to ViaPlay and MHz Choice (mostly subtitled shows) to keep things interesting. Makari is based on Italian writer Gaetano Savatteri's books, and the series follows Saverio Lamanna as he returns to his native Sicily to write a book and solve crime.
  • Reading: Under an English Heaven by Alice K. Boatwright - I picked this one up free on Kindle (still free at time of writing), and it follows San Francisco academic Ellie Kent as she adjusts to life in a Cotswold village—only to become the prime suspect in a churchyard murder, forcing her to dig into decades-old secrets to clear her name. It's a first book in series, and it's well worth grabbing if you like lighter mysteries.

If you've been enjoying The Crow Girl over on Acorn TV, great news - it was just announced today that the series would return for a second season. The series follows DCI Jeanette Kilburn (Eve Myles, Keeping Faith) and psychotherapist Dr. Sophia Craven (Katherine Kelly, Happy Valley) as they join forces to hunt a killer targeting young men. Since the synopsis for season 2 contains spoilers (and new episodes are still premiering in the US), we've placed the synopsis at the very bottom of this...

Most people don’t think of Cornwall as a hub for surreal, time-bending cinema — but filmmaker Mark Jenkin has been quietly turning its fishing villages and coastal landscapes into the backdrop for some of Britain’s most haunting arthouse films. His latest, Rose of Nevada, premiered at Venice with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score and will arrive in the US this October (first at indie theatres and festivals, probably getting to streaming services a little later). The film follows Nick (George...

This week marks 50 years since the premiere of Fawlty Towers, the show that turned Basil Fawlty from a frayed hotel keeper into one of Britain’s most beloved characters. Created by John Cleese and Connie Booth, the series ran for just two seasons—twelve episodes in total—but its razor-sharp wit, chaotic hotel antics, and unforgettable one-liners secured its place in comedy legend. Sadly, the show isn't streaming via ANY strictly legal means in the US at the moment, though you can definitely...
