Maigret, Signora Volpe, Death Valley, Irish Blood News

This week marks 44 years since the premiere of the classic British sitcom Only Fools & Horses. If you've never seen it, it's one of those shows that every British TV fan should at least try for a couple episodes.

David Jason's portrayal of Del Boy is iconic, and the show is a warm, light-hearted portrayal of working-class London in the late twentieth century. Its blend of character-driven humour, emotional depth, and everyday realism helped shape the tone of modern British comedy for decades to come.

In the US, you can watch it on BritBox.

What we're...

  • Watching: Great British Ghosts - I don't love ghost/haunting shows full of nightvision video and people screaming - but I re-watch this series almost every year around this time. Presenter Michaela Strachan (Springwatch) visits a number of historic and haunted places in the UK, talking with building owners, historians, and witnesses about the strange things they've experienced. It's as much about the history and scenery as it is about the supposed ghosts.
  • Reading: The New Forest Murders by Matthew Sweet - Sweet is the same guy who wrote the book that inspired the TV series Bookish (which has yet to premiere in the US). Set in 1944, the story is set as the tide is turning in the war. Jill Metcalfe has received the news of her brother's death, and she's recruited to continue his mission of tracking down a traitor in a small English village (along with US Air Force officer Jack Strafford).

Death Valley: Renewed for Season 2

Filming has begun in Wales on the second series of Death Valley, the hit BBC comedy-drama that became the most-watched new UK scripted series in five years. Timothy Spall and Gwyneth Keyworth return as retired actor John Chapel and quick-witted Detective Sergeant Janie Mallowan, the bickering but effective crime-solving duo at the heart of the show.

Returning cast members include Alexandria Riley, Steffan Rhodri, Melanie Walters, and Rithvik Andugula, with the series set to air on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK and BritBox internationally.

Signora Volpe Returns for Season 3

Above, you can see a screenshot of Emilia Fox's official Instagram account announcing she's back on set for season 3 of Signora Volpe.

The new season will consist of three feature-length episodes, with Sylvia back to solving murders in picturesque Umbria - this time investigating a dead winery owner, a mysterious body found in a high-profile couple’s bed, and a personal loss that cuts deep.

Production kicks off this week in the Lazio and Umbria regions of Italy. No release date yet, but it's great to know they're back at it.

Season 2 will head back to Ireland with six new episodes, and production is set to begin in early 2026.

If you've been enjoying The Crow Girl over on Acorn TV, great news - it was just announced today that the series would return for a second season. The series follows DCI Jeanette Kilburn (Eve Myles, Keeping Faith) and psychotherapist Dr. Sophia Craven (Katherine Kelly, Happy Valley) as they join forces to hunt a killer targeting young men. Since the synopsis for season 2 contains spoilers (and new episodes are still premiering in the US), we've placed the synopsis at the very bottom of this...

Most people don’t think of Cornwall as a hub for surreal, time-bending cinema — but filmmaker Mark Jenkin has been quietly turning its fishing villages and coastal landscapes into the backdrop for some of Britain’s most haunting arthouse films. His latest, Rose of Nevada, premiered at Venice with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score and will arrive in the US this October (first at indie theatres and festivals, probably getting to streaming services a little later). The film follows Nick (George...

This week marks 50 years since the premiere of Fawlty Towers, the show that turned Basil Fawlty from a frayed hotel keeper into one of Britain’s most beloved characters. Created by John Cleese and Connie Booth, the series ran for just two seasons—twelve episodes in total—but its razor-sharp wit, chaotic hotel antics, and unforgettable one-liners secured its place in comedy legend. Sadly, the show isn't streaming via ANY strictly legal means in the US at the moment, though you can definitely...
